Building the Foundation for a Lifetime of Learning
I got my start in Occupational Therapy with a B.S. in OT from University of Kansas in 1993. After 10 years of working in adult neurological rehabilitation in inpatient units throughout the country, I was ready to superimpose child/infant development onto my understanding of the function of the human nervous system. My pediatric OT journey started with school-aged kids (public schools and CCS clinics) and my patients just kept getting smaller and smaller. I get to work with some of the tiniest humans on earth! I started my passion for the developing infant in Santa Cruz County in 2004, specializing in supporting the medically-fragile, premature, drug-exposed, or other high risk infants with the transition from NICU/IICN to home, with a focus on Eat, Play, Learn. Hands-on, direct therapy and family education starts right away! A treatment plan and goals are established with the family, who are instructed in custom home programs to optimize their baby's daily feeding and development. I am CCS-paneled and have advanced certification (CA Board of OT) for feeding and swallowing.
